In this section, I will be looking at a bunch of tried and tested tools, that have either not permeated the World of academia (or even practice) or which have done, but are inadequate.

I was going to put ‘management tools’ or ‘study skills’ but actually, now I will just leave them in their adisciplinary space and just comment on them as to their relevance or non-relevance (as I interpret it) to other domains.

They will tend to appear not in any obvious logical ordering but just when I get annoyed enough with my colleagues or peers or students or frustration with a text to think: ‘arrgggghhhh! something needs to be done’ and since nobody seems to have, I hear my calling to do it myself.
